New Support Group in Lambeth

Let us Grieve a new support group

I was inspired to start this group after losing my mamá who passed away 13 07 2018 - as my husband  and I were about to celebrate on the same day our 5th wedding anniversary in Cuba

Like many of us losing a loved one so dear, your whole world changes.

The person you once were also changes as you try to cope with your loss.

The questions, the feelings, mixed emotions which takes over and becomes overwhelming.

You hear a song or watch a movie and the emotions take over.

The pains – in your heart and in your head as you battle to come to terms with your loss.

I know all of this because my rollercoaster slows down every now and again. Then it picks up speed and the whole process starts over again a bit like being in a time loop.

For everyone else their world is constantly moving at it normal pace. Our worlds have stopped and we find ourselves in that quite place. Questioning our thoughts and trying to make sense of our loss

What I found was speaking to people who had experienced the same was more supportive to me than having Counselling sessions. Please don’t miss understand as Counselling can be a great therapy for some. It just wasn’t for me.

I realised after looking at a few groups there was nothing like this one. A group where individuals can come together and just grieve - laugh together – cry together – share our memories and our grieving experiences and coping methods.

Most importantly to feel free to grieve without being judged in any way.

The feelings and emotions we are going through are all perfectly normal

The first session went really well with a lot of positive feedback and suggestions for the next one. It has been requested for monthly meetings.  The next one will be Friday 15 February 2019

The group members are confidential as well as what we discuss within.  We agreed I will only share what gives others an insight to the group, such as;

The mantelpiece you see will be used for a group member to put up their loved one. I kicked started it with my Mamá
